Learn About Cellulose Insulation

At Duerst Insulation Technicians, our team is comprised of the smartest insulators in the industry. We have been in business for over 16 years with the goal to solve your problems. Learn more about cellulose insulation – one of the oldest types of building insulation – below.

What is Cellulose Insulation?

Cellulose insulation is made from recycled newspaper product that is treated with a fire retardant. Its R-value per inch is 3.8 and it outperforms its test R-value due to the paper-based material. It'll dry itself out and prevent any mold issues.

This type of insulation can be installed in two different ways. It can either be blown in loosely into attic or densely packed into an enclosed wall cavity. You can also apply it with a wet spray into an open wall cavity, which will dry to a papier-mâché consistency.
