First home? Existing home?

Planning your first home? Building a larger home as your family grows?

Perhaps you are considering a vacation home, or even thinking about building several homes for sale.

Not a new home? Does your existing home need remodeling? Perhaps you are planning to repair the house next door that your just purchased for a future rental property.

You will be faced with a multitude of questions and seemingly endless details. But unless you have experience in building, you will need help to avoid making decisions that you may eventually regret. For a new home, you may want an architect and a general contractor to guide you through many of the decisions.

Unfortunately, one critical question that is not often asked is, What kind of insulation do you want? Or, restated, How energy efficient do you want your home to be with respect to staying cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather?

Historically, fiberglass has been the primary    insulation of choice, and most builders simply assumed - and still assume today - that all new and remodeled homes would have fiberglass. But fiberglass is not necessarily the best option for every building project. And once insulation is installed, it is not easy to replace.

The decision on what type of insulation is used in your home can have consequences for your family's comfort and your heating and cooling expenses for many years. This is one decision that should not be taken lightly.

If you are considering a new home, or remodeling your existing home, ask about your insulation options. Duerst Insulation Technicians staff are here to assist you in assessing your specific needs and will advise you as to your best course of action.
