Blown In Cellulose
Why should you consider cellulose insulation?
-
It's simply more effective! Cellulose is a denser product when compared to conventional insulations. That means it retains its stated R-value better over all temperature ranges. This also means it is better at controlling air infiltration. Conventional fiberglass insulation is a more open structure with long fibers. Air can actually move through it, reducing its effectiveness!
-
Our spray on application ensures that all wall cavities will be completely insulated and sealed including around wires and plumbing. Conventional fiberglass insulation comes in pre-cut rolls or batts. They are "cut to fit" in odd sized spaces, thereby creating air gaps. Conventional insulation must be installed perfectly with no gaps, or air movement will occur greatly reducing its effectiveness.

It has been scientifically proven that in "real world" application, conventional insulation does not achieve its stated R-value due to the above factors. Cellulose, when sprayed in a wall cavity, will give you the R-value that you expect.

Cellulose is a safer product for your home. It contains no potential carcinogens. Cellulose is treated for fire resistance, so your home will be better protected against fire. Furthermore, its dense nature, and the fact that we completely seal a wall cavity, provides for little or no air movement: No air, no oxygen, no fire. Conventional insulation melts at a relatively low temperature allowing air movement. Your walls can become in effect "chimneys," and fire can jump from stud to stud.
-
Superior mold resistance! The same treatment that gives cellulose its fire resistance also provides protection against mold. Cellulose is treated with a borate solution (completely non-toxic and EPA registered as an approved fungicide) that provides protection against mold growth, even when conditions are favorable for mold.
-
Excellent sound control! Again, the dense nature of cellulose means it is much more effective at controlling noise. Your home will be quieter. Many customers have us insulate certain interior walls for sound control, as well.
-
Cellulose is an environmentally responsible product. Cellulose is made from recycled newspaper. Thousands of tons are used each day in its manufacture, thereby saving landfill space.
- Cellulose insulation requires about 1/40th of the energy needed to make, as compared to conventional insulation.
Your home will be better insulated. Not only will you save money, but your furnace will run less with fewer hydrocarbon emissions. Contact us for more information.
